The Honourable Anne Rushout (c. 1766–1849) inherited Wanstead
Grove in 1817 when she was about 50 years old. It was previously owned by her
uncle, George Bowles (c. 1732–1817), who had inherited the house and other
property when his father, Humphry, died in 1784.
